Although the subjects in the photo are not identified (not even with the original photo at the Oklahoma Historical Society) and my inquiries to a number of Libraries failed to find any names, I am certain that the young woman on the left is my mother and the other woman is her younger sister, both attending college at Alva, Oklahoma at the time. I am fortunate, as a writer, to have such a rich and colorful background and heritage from which to draw in creating the backdrops, characters, and activities of my novel, "Tares among the wheat."
